Getting a manicure is always the quickest and cheapest way to update your look or help you feel more ready and put-together. Whether you abide by a rigid salon schedule, or are more the type to give yourself a few new coats of polish at home, a manicure lets you change your look with just a few strokes of the brush. Your nails are also a perfect way to try out a new trend or color without altering your personal style too drastically and even the priciest bottle shouldn’t set you over $20. This summer, nail color trends have been all over the place. Sheer nudes are in to give a lighter, more seasonal vibe and match the nude show trend. Minty seafoam greens were and still are all the rage as the newest it color, and of course there’s light, girly pinks galore – a feminine summertime staple. It’s been called ‘watercolor’ eyes, ‘gradient’ eyeshadow and a number of other monikers, but there’s one thing for sure. Multicolored eye makeup is definitely in. Plus, it’s an easy-on-the-wallet way to try a new summer look. You can choose one color, and fade it into lighter versions of the same hue, or pick contrasting colors to really make an ‘eye-catching’ look. Gold or yellow is a wonderful addition to any color combination and really adds shine to the look. It doesn’t matter which colors or how many you decide to use for this ‘watercolor’ look, simply match it to your mood. Just remember to blend, blend, blend throughout for a soft and sultry look that is fun and beautiful, not gaudy or overpowering. With the weather getting hotter and hotter, I’ve found myself visiting the mall more frequently to update my wardrobe to suit the season. And while I’m not necessarily “in the market” for a new bag, I can’t help stopping to peruse the purse department while on my way to more serious shopping. Since I usually feast my eyes on nearly everything a store has once a new shipment comes in (what can I say, shopping is kind of my job), it’s hard to get my attention. What really turns my head lately is a fresh pop of color, like turquoise. Turquoise is bright in a way that’s still somehow totally wearable and somehow manages to come off organic — reminiscent of crystal blue waters or tropical getaways — and hardly ever looks obnoxious like some purposely bold colors often can. It’s fresh and summery without being season-exclusive, so its wearability isn’t limited to just the few months ahead. Plus, it’s the official color of 2010, so it’s almost as though you’re destined to rock it (as if you need more excuses to bulk up your bag collection)!
